Eyespace Wins Industry First Sustainability Award
Eyespace are thrilled to share that we are the winners of the industry’s first ever Sustainability Award at the 2021 Optician Awards. This award reflects the global pendulum-swing in changing attitudes towards a brighter and greener future, and we’re exceptionally proud to be flying the flag for sustainability within optics.
We would like to think that we demonstrated just how invested we are to being a committed and responsible organisation, and the lengths we are going to, to make a positive difference. The unprecedented response we received to the launch of our Eco-Conscious Collection back in 2019 re-enforced our belief that it was the right time to transition our entire portfolio of house brands and designer brands – Aspinal of London, Land Rover and Range Rover – to be as sustainable as it possibly could be, and not just the frames themselves; we believe we were the first British supplier to switch to the exclusive use of biodegradable frame bags throughout our entire portfolio, (with the exception of Eco-Conscious collection which is provided in card-based packaging). We are also truly committed to setting precedents by sharing our knowledge and commitments with others, for the greater-good through industry training and our Eyespace Green Summits.
There are ambitious targets in place for the future; we anticipate there will always be a need for eyewear, so we harness the power of innovation to continually enhance the sustainability and performance of our products, services and supply chain. In the past 12 months alone we have introduced a series of new bio-acetates to our product portfolio, and are also transitioning to cases made entirely of recyclable or renewable materials. We will also continue to provide education and support to our customers, acting as a beacon at every stage of their sustainable journey, while simultaneously revising and implementing new strategies to advance our own green efforts.
